DQS and UL MSS have combined their strengths in order to offer their clients the best from two worlds in the future. This applies to our certification services as well as the worldwide availability of service, auditors and expertise.
UL Management Systems Solutions (MSS) is the management system certifi-cation division of Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Northbrook, IL, USA. UL MSS is merging into DQS and in return UL will receive a 28 percent stake in DQS – the same the DQS founding partner DIN and DGQ are holding.

These two companies are just made for each other: We complement each other in our geographical reach, share the same values and have the same high standards regarding service and quality.
On the other hand, each company has its own focus – UL MSS e. g. in the aerospace and aviation industries, DQS in the food industry. Each company has its own unique selling proposition. DQS clients use the MyDQS portal for managing their certification processes or compare their performances via DQS Benchmarking. UL MSS clients enjoy balanced procedures with product certi-fication. In brief: lots of potential for a successful future.

| Who is UL, who is UL MSS?
UL is a global player in the field of product registration with more than 100 affiliates in 65 countries.
Since 1989 UL’s MSS unit has been providing management system services, with 240 employees and auditors worldwide. As of today, UL MSS has registered more than 6,300 companies and reached clients in 50 countries and more than 13,000 locations.
UL MSS’s clients belong predominantly to the automotive, aviation and aerospace, electronics, electrical, telecommunications and chemical industries.

What is the market potential reflected by the merger?
The new company will become a top 5 player in the global management systems certification market. DQS-UL plans with a 15 per cent growth in 2008.

| What will the benefits be for the clients?
Clients will benefit from more auditors with additional expertise in many countries. More expertise will be availably locally, thus further cutting travel expenses.
In addition, the international recognition of certificates will be further increased as we now dispose of two strong brands: DQS and UL.
Finally, we will be in the position to fine-tune management system and product registrations better than before. This means a further benefit for our clients.
