| | For food products from the producer to the consumer (QS-Charta) | | QS – Quality and Safety Alliance Product information
| |
Significance
QS – quality and safety alliance is a comprehensive
system for assuring both quality and origin throughout
the food production chain, with continuous
documentation and monitoring at all levels. It was
first introduced to the meat industry, but has since
been extended to cover the fields of farming, fruits
and vegetables, and potatoes. |
QS – for whom?
QS is designed for organizations involved in the
production and placing on the market of meat and
meat products – to include the animal feed industry,
agriculture, meat processors and retailers – as well
as the farmers of fruits, vegetables, and potatoes
who want to take advantage of a reliable system to
guarantee both quality and origin in the long term. |
Benefits
- Safe and efficient process flows in respect of
product safety, hygiene and health protection
- Improved consumer confidence through transparency
and traceability

Certification work flow
What is specific to a QS assessment is that any
non-conformities will be separated into three categories,
which then specify the assessment intervals.
After the assessment, the organization receives
action plans with the non-conformities, if any. DQS
decides on the success of the certification. The organization
receives a report and their certificate, and
needs to work through the non-onformities within a
specified period of time.
Synergies can be realized when assessing an integrated
management system according to various
standards at the same time. |
